ABO Energy Sells Majority of Finnish Projects to Fortum
ABO Energy GmbH & Co. KGaA has entered into an agreement to sell the majority of its Finnish project pipeline to Fortum Oyj, a major energy firm in Finland. This transaction involves approximately 4.4 gigawatts of projects from its subsidiary, ABO Energy Suomi Oy. The deal includes an initial payment of EUR 42.2 million, expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025, along with future earn-out payments contingent on projects reaching final investment decisions.
The sale will considerably reduce ABO Energy's market share in Finland, allowing the company to concentrate its efforts on other European markets, specifically Germany, France, and Spain. This strategic move is part of ABO Energy's broader plan to enhance project implementation efficiency across its European operations.
Completion of the transaction is pending customary conditions, including regulatory approvals. As of now, the company does not anticipate any changes to its 2025 financial year profit forecast due to the sale.
