AGRANA Expands with Acquisition of Mercator-Emba

AGRANA, a leading global food company, has announced its acquisition of Mercator-Emba d.o.o., a top Slovenian food manufacturer. This strategic move aims to strengthen AGRANA's presence in Europe, expanding its reach in the food service sector, food processors, and retailers. Mercator-Emba specializes in producing syrups and dessert toppings, primarily serving Central, Southern, and Eastern Europe.

Based near Ljubljana, Mercator-Emba employs around 100 people and reported revenues of approximately €30 million in 2024. The acquisition's completion awaits approval from competition and regulatory bodies. AGRANA CEO Stephan Büttner highlights this acquisition as a key aspect of their NEXT LEVEL corporate strategy, targeting growth in the Food & Beverage Solutions unit.

AGRANA operates globally with 37 production sites, including 20 in Europe, delivering tailored solutions for various industries. The company leads in fruit preparations and is a major player in sugar and starch products.
