AGRANA Completes Acquisition of Mercator-Emba in Slovenia

AGRANA Beteiligungs-Aktiengesellschaft has successfully finalized its acquisition of the Slovenian food company Mercator-Emba d.o.o. following approval from international anti-trust authorities. This marks AGRANA's first operation of a production facility in Slovenia, located near Ljubljana. The facility employs roughly 100 staff and produces annual revenues around €30 million.

The acquisition supports AGRANA's strategy for growth in the booming food service sector across Europe. Mercator-Emba is known for its production of cacao instant products, syrups, and dessert toppings, predominantly serving Central, Southern, and Eastern Europe. The deal is aligned with AGRANA's NEXT LEVEL strategy aimed at profitable expansion in Food & Beverage Solutions.

CEO Stephan Büttner emphasized AGRANA's focus on developing customized solutions for clients in the food and beverage sector. Meanwhile, Mercator-Emba CEO Darja Jamnik expressed optimism about contributing to AGRANA's long-term vision and success.
