Air Liquide Expands Low-Carbon Electricity Sourcing
Air Liquide has reinforced its commitment to low-carbon electricity sourcing, a key component of its Climate Transition Plan. In 2025, the company initiated multi-year Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) totaling 3 TWh annually, crucial for its decarbonization trajectory.
This strategy concentrates on regions with high carbon power grids, like China and South Africa. Air Liquide also signed its first PPAs in India, targeting the carbon-intensive energy sector.
Since 2020, Air Liquide's PPAs have led to a reduction of 3.5 million tonnes of CO2 annually, with full implementation by 2027. More than 40% of its power now comes from low-carbon sources, showcasing a substantial energy mix shift.
The approach includes electrifying Air Separation Units, notably in Shaanxi, to significantly cut emissions. This aligns with their goal to provide customers with gases that support their decarbonization.
