AIXTRON Enhances Renesas' GaN Manufacturing Capabilities
AIXTRON SE has provided Renesas with multiple Planetary G5+C systems to expand its Gallium Nitride (GaN) production for high-volume manufacturing. This move aims to strengthen Renesas' capabilities in critical power electronics, responding to growing demand.
The acquisition of Transphorm in 2024 allowed Renesas to accelerate GaN technology in e-mobility, IoT solutions, AI data centers, and renewable energy sectors. AIXTRON’s MOCVD systems enable high-quality GaN layer production, crucial for GaN power devices. These systems are now operational.
“GaN is crucial for our growth," stated Rohan Samsi, VP at Renesas. Dr. Nicolas Müsgens from AIXTRON highlighted Renesas' commitment to GaN, noting the strengthened partnership through these advancements.
