Alaska Energy Metals Finalizes Acquisition of Canwell Claim Block
Alaska Energy Metals Corporation has completed the acquisition of the Canwell claim block, a significant component of the Nikolai Nickel Project. This region is noted for its rich nickel, copper, and platinum group metals. The claim transfer follows an agreement initiated in 2022 with an original option through Millrock Exploration and prospector David Johnson. Alaska Energy Metals paid 7 million shares and over half a million USD, meeting its exploration commitment by surpassing $3.2 million in exploration work.
The Canwell block, located 30 kilometers from Alaska Energy Metals’ Eureka Deposit, comprises 49 mining claims. The site is expected to yield promising nickel-copper-platinum group metal deposits, especially in its deep-rooted conduit system. The company conducted exploratory drilling in 2024, identifying new prospects but no high-grade sulfide concentrations. Future explorations aim to uncover potential additional nickel systems across the district.
