Alstom Secures €1 Billion Share in Melbourne Rail Project
Alstom, a leader in sustainable mobility, has been awarded a €1 billion share of a €4.9 billion contract for Melbourne's Suburban Rail Loop East project in Australia. This project is in partnership with the TransitLinX Alliance, which includes John Holland, KBR, WSP, and RATP Dev.
The contract involves the production of 13 automated Metropolis metro trains and a 15-year maintenance plan. The trains, to operate with full automation, will be built at Alstom’s Melbourne site. Alstom is also tasked with system integration, signalling, and cyber infrastructure, ensuring high availability and reliability.
This initiative marks a significant engagement for Alstom in Australia's biggest rail project, establishing a sophisticated urban transit network across Melbourne's regions.
