Alstom signs key contract for the Belgrade metro

On March 27, 2026, Alstom announced a €915 million contract to deliver Belgrade's first fully automated metro system. This turnkey project comprises 32 Metropolis trainsets and aims to revolutionize urban mobility in Serbia. Line 1 will extend over 15 km with 15 stations, transforming mobility by transferring traffic underground. This initiative is supported by the French government.

Andrew DeLeone, President of Alstom Europe, emphasizes the metro's impact on the city's economic growth and climate goals. The project incorporates advanced technologies, such as the company's CBTC, to ensure reliable and efficient operation. The trains will be manufactured in Valenciennes, France, guaranteeing high transport capacity and increased frequency thanks to automation.
