Innovation in crop protection: Syngenta and Amoéba collaborate
Syngenta Crop Protection and Amoéba SA have joined forces to develop and market biocontrol solutions for the European Union and the United Kingdom. Based on the lysate of the amoeba Willaertia magna, this innovation aims to protect wheat and other cereals from fungal diseases, which cause significant crop losses every year.
This partnership, announced with the aim of finalizing a distribution agreement in spring 2026, initially targets two wheat diseases: septoria leaf blotch and yellow rust. These pathogens, particularly damaging in Europe, affect up to 12 million hectares of wheat. In Germany, for example, septoria leaf blotch causes major economic losses.
Syngenta, a world leader in crop protection, and Amoéba, specializing in biocontrol, are combining their expertise to offer farmers sustainable alternatives to the growing resistance to conventional plant protection products.
