Amrize Commences Modernization of Montreal Area Cement Plant

On June 19, 2026, Amrize Ltd broke ground on a major modernization project for its cement plant near Montreal. The initiative aims to make the facility the most advanced and sustainable in Eastern Canada. It represents the largest investment in the Canadian cement sector in the last decade, focusing on improved operational efficiency, enhanced sustainability, and increased local production capacity.

The modernization project, located in Saint-Constant, Quebec, will introduce state-of-the-art equipment to boost energy efficiency and logistics. Amrize aims to slash the plant's net carbon footprint by over 40% by 2035, achieving the lowest emissions per tonne of cement in the region. The production capacity will be increased by 300,000 tonnes annually, supporting local employment growth by 25%.

This development coincides with Canadian and Quebec government plans to invest $10 billion in infrastructure, public transport, healthcare, and housing. Amrize's project is backed by federal and provincial initiatives supporting cleaner technologies and a low-carbon economy.
