Andrzej Bargiel Achieves Unprecedented Ski Descent on Nanga Parbat

Polish athlete Andrzej Bargiel has set a remarkable record by becoming the first to complete a continuous, oxygen-free ski descent of Nanga Parbat. This achievement marks the culmination of a decade-long project involving the first descents of various 8,000-metre peaks in Pakistan. Bargiel successfully completed his descent on June 30, linking the summit to the snowline in one unbroken ski line.

Nanga Parbat stands at 8,126 metres and holds a reputation as one of the most dangerous of the world's peaks. Bargiel powered through this challenge without supplemental oxygen. He launched his climb from Base Camp at 4,200 metres, resting overnight at Camps II and III before reaching the summit. Notably, he navigated past a serac barrier that had thwarted previous attempts by other climbers.

This accomplishment follows Bargiel’s earlier feats of skiing several formidable peaks without supplemental oxygen. Supported by Red Bull, he continues to pave new paths in the world of high-altitude skiing.
