Apacer Unveils GraTherX Thermal Solution for DDR5 Modules
Apacer has launched GraTherX, a new cooling technology for DDR5 memory modules. Designed for industrial use, GraTherX targets thermal issues in fanless, space-limited systems. With rising DDR5 demand driven by AI, thermal management becomes crucial. GraTherX achieves up to 23.4°C temperature reduction, far exceeding conventional solutions which typically offer 3–5°C improvements. This is made possible through dual-sided heat dissipation, enhancing stability over time.
In fanless environments, rear memory modules struggle with heat due to limited airflow. GraTherX uses a dual-sided conduction structure to redirect heat, coupling copper and graphene to optimize thermal performance while ensuring electrical safety. It fits existing platforms, measuring only 0.17 mm in thickness.
Validation tests under natural convection reduced temperatures from 82.7°C to 59.3°C, with minimal temperature variance across module sides. GraTherX boosts mean time between failures by approximately 2.7 times, though results may vary based on system setup. It will soon be available across Apacer's DDR5 range, including applications like industrial PCs and edge AI systems.
