Arkema Secures SBTi Validation for 2035 and 2050 Climate Goals
On November 3, 2026, Arkema announced the validation of its 2050 net-zero target by SBTi Services, alongside near-term targets for 2035. This marks Arkema as the first chemical industry company to achieve validation under new SBTi guidelines. The targets encompass Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions with an ambitious goal of a 90% reduction by 2050 from 2019 levels, relying on neutralization for only 10% of residual emissions.
For 2035, Arkema's SBTi-approved targets include a 58.07% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions, and a 68.57% reduction in Scope 3 emissions from 2019 figures. The company is dedicating up to €400 million for process improvements and energy efficiency through 2035.
The announcement reflects Arkema's commitment to meeting the Paris Agreement's 1.5°C trajectory with continued efforts to low-carbon energy solutions and emissions reduction. Emmanuelle Bromet, Arkema's Sustainable Development VP, emphasized the importance of these targets in building a sustainable industry.
