Auto-suisse advocates a new direction for the automotive sector
At its general assembly in Safenwil, auto-suisse unanimously re-elected Peter Grünenfelder as president for a three-year term. Faced with the current challenges of a stagnant market, the association is calling for a policy shift, advocating for the adoption of European relaxations of CO₂ standards and a reduction in over-regulation. It is also calling for tax relief for companies and drivers. Claudia Meyer and Dirk Adelmann are joining the board of directors, further strengthening the unity of the sector.
President Grünenfelder emphasizes the need for Switzerland to align itself with its European neighbors and avoid going it alone on CO₂ regulations. The current rigid regulations are penalizing the sector. Auto-suisse advocates for deregulation and tax relief, stating that the sector already pays 13 billion francs in taxes annually. Furthermore, the association criticizes the imbalance in infrastructure investment, calling for a more balanced mobility policy focused on the actual needs of the population.
