Swiss utility vehicle market under economic pressure

The Swiss commercial vehicle market saw a notable decline of 14.5% in heavy-duty truck registrations between January and September 2025 compared to the previous year. Only the 3.5- to 8-tonne and 16- to 18-tonne segments saw a slight increase. However, the growing proportion of electric trucks, now reaching 20%, is an encouraging sign, driven by tax exemptions and favorable frameworks.

For light commercial vehicles, registrations fell by 8.5%, reflecting a gloomy economic outlook. Electric models, while still a minority, grew by 78%, encouraging growing adoption. Finally, the motorhome market fell by 26.7%, indicating a return to pre-pandemic dynamics.
