BRIEF

on Auto-schweiz

The Swiss commercial vehicle market is declining, but electrification is progressing.

In 2025, the Swiss market for new commercial vehicles experienced a decline of 8.3%, with only 38,707 registrations. Heavy goods vehicles and passenger transport vehicles were severely affected. However, electric commercial vehicles saw their market share increase thanks to strong promotion and a diversified product range.

Registrations of heavy goods vehicles over 3.5 tonnes fell by 14% due to uncertainty surrounding the heavy goods vehicle traffic charge (RPLP). This situation has led companies to postpone investments in new vehicles.

Despite this overall decline, registrations of heavy-duty electric commercial vehicles reached a record high with a market share of 22.4%. In the light-duty vehicle sector, diesel lost ground to plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles.
