Truck electrification is progressing in Switzerland

According to auto-suisse, the Swiss commercial vehicle market remained stable, with a slight increase of 0.9% from January to September 2026. A notable development is the rise of electric heavy-duty commercial vehicles: 27.4% of new registrations are for fully electric trucks. This progress is particularly marked in the 3.5 to 16-tonne segment, where more than 40% of vehicles are now electric.

Furthermore, the overall market for light commercial vehicles and passenger transport vehicles saw increases of 0.8% and 2.2%, respectively. However, alternatives to electrification, such as hydrogen and gas, remain marginal. Buses and coaches, however, showed significant growth, with registrations rising by 35%.
