Ban on Monacolines: A strategic step for Valbiotis
On May 13, 2026, EU member states voted in favor of a European regulation to ban monacolins from red yeast rice in food supplements. This regulation, based on EFSA assessments, could be published in October 2026. A phase-out period until 2027 is planned.
For Valbiotis, this ban supports its cardiometabolic health strategy, particularly with Valbiotis Pro® Cholesterol, which is free of red yeast rice. Valbiotis' innovation lies in Lipidrive®, a clinically tested natural ingredient to reduce LDL cholesterol.
Regulatory developments offer Valbiotis new business opportunities, strengthening its product portfolio and its presence on the European market.
