Commerzbank Achieves Record Nine-Month Performance

Commerzbank has reported its best nine-month result in history, with a 17% increase in operating income, reaching €4bn. Net income also surged by 41% to €2.7bn. The bank recorded revenue growth driven by a robust securities business and slightly higher net interest income, amounting to €9.7bn. Additionally, the cost-income ratio improved to 53%.

The bank launched a share buyback plan valued at up to €1.2bn, with 70% of the target already repurchased. The plan targets a capital return of €3.2bn for 2026, from a net target of at least €3.4bn.

Commerzbank's "Momentum 2030" strategy saw enhancements in corporate client offerings and a digital expansion in private and small-business banking. mBank in Poland reported significant revenue and operating result increases, while the PSBC Germany segment reported its best quarter to date.

The bank maintains its full-year net result target of €3.4bn while expecting a CET1 ratio above 14%. The ongoing UniCredit takeover awaits further regulatory approvals.
