Belt and Road Summit in Hong Kong Draws Global Business Leaders

The 11th Belt and Road Summit held at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre gathered over 6,200 leaders from more than 70 countries. The event, part of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), facilitated over 60 Memoranda of Understanding totaling over US$3.1 billion in value. Hosted by the Hong Kong SAR Government, the summit continues to be a key platform for Hong Kong's engagement in the BRI.

Chief Executive John Lee emphasized Hong Kong's pivotal role in connecting East and West, while seeking new partnerships. Focused on high-quality development, discussions covered sectors like trade, logistics, and green technology, particularly in emerging markets such as ASEAN, Central Asia, and the Middle East.

This year, new chapters were added to the summit, fostering investment discussions for Chinese enterprises. A University Zone showcased Hong Kong's R&D, and the Dialogue for Future session promoted think-tank exchanges. Over 300 investment projects and 800 deal-making meetings took place, highlighting Hong Kong's strategic position.
