BioMérieux's €250 Million Investment in French Diagnostic Facility
bioMérieux, a leader in in vitro diagnostics, announced a €250 million investment to build a manufacturing facility in La Balme-les-Grottes, France. This facility will produce PCR tests from the BIOFIRE® range, creating about 400 jobs. The initiative aims to ensure a stable supply of diagnostic solutions for Europe, enhancing the region's ability to tackle infectious diseases.
The groundbreaking ceremony took place with notable attendees including Alain Mérieux, Alexandre Mérieux, and French industry officials. Alexandre Mérieux highlighted the commitment to strengthening public health and anchoring the company's roots in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
bioMérieux aims to meet the rising demand for infectious disease diagnostics in Europe by enhancing production capacity. The La Balme site, existing for over 40 years, plans further expansion, projected to offer long-term benefits, including job creation and sustainability efforts, by minimizing CO2 emissions and optimizing logistics.
