BioVersys Initiates Phase 2b RIV-CARE Trial of BV100

BioVersys AG has announced the commencement of the Phase 2b RIV-CARE trial, marking the first patient visit. This study focuses on hospital-acquired bacterial pneumonia (HABP), ventilator-associated bacterial pneumonia (VABP), and bloodstream infections (BSI) caused by carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii-calcoaceticus complex (CRABC). RIV-CARE will compare BV100, in combination with low-dose polymyxin B and background antibiotics, against the best available therapy across various regions.

This trial complements the ongoing Phase 3 RIV-TARGET trial. It involves approximately 100 patients and aims to collect real-world evidence to support BV100's potential market commercialisation. The RIV-CARE trial is executed with the ADVANCE-ID clinical network, with substantial funding from Wellcome. Interim results are anticipated in the first half of 2027, with trial completion expected by the end of 2027.
