Malaysia Expands Secure Communications for ASEAN Summits
BlackBerry Limited announced that Malaysia has enhanced its use of BlackBerry AtHoc and BlackBerry SecuSUITE to secure communications during the ASEAN Summits in 2025. These secure systems aim to protect command and control during both the 46th summit in May and the upcoming 47th summit from October 26 to 28 in Kuala Lumpur.
Overseeing the summits, Malaysia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, via the ASEAN Main Logistics Secretariat (SILA), has adopted these technologies to manage intricate diplomatic operations involving numerous governmental interactions. The importance of secure communications has intensified with increased threats from advanced signal intelligence.
For the 47th summit, 150 liaison officers will utilize BlackBerry’s system to maintain secure messaging and voice communication, reducing device dependency while ensuring confidentiality. BlackBerry CEO John Giamatteo acknowledged Malaysia for setting high standards in secure sovereign communications.
