QNX and Haleytek Collaborate on Software-Defined Audio for Volvo's EX60
QNX, a division of BlackBerry Limited, has announced a collaboration with Haleytek to implement a Software-Defined Audio (SDA) architecture in Volvo Cars' upcoming EX60 electric SUV. This initiative aims to revolutionize audio technology in vehicles by centralizing audio processing on a system-on-chip (SoC), enhancing flexibility and enabling continuous software updates.
The EX60 will be the first to feature Volvo's SPA3 infotainment platform, offering a premium, evolving audio experience. Unlike traditional models, the SDA eliminates the need for dedicated digital signal processors within amplifiers, potentially offering cost savings for automakers.
This collaboration underlines Volvo's strategy to integrate more vehicle functions into software, supporting their Superset Tech Stack approach. As automotive software complexity increases, QNX remains committed to supporting automakers with innovation and cost-effective solutions.
