Blue Elephant Energy Reaches Milestone at Bavaria's Largest Solar Park
Blue Elephant Energy GmbH (BEE) has achieved a significant milestone in constructing Bavaria's largest solar park, Schafhöfen, with the handover of a new substation from Bayernwerk Netz GmbH. This marks a critical step in integrating the solar park into the high-voltage grid, with a capacity of 268 megawatt-peak, making it one of the largest ground-mounted photovoltaic plants in Germany. Construction began in May 2026 and is on track for completion by summer 2027.
Tobias Gotthardt, State Secretary of the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, visited the site, underscoring the project's importance. The new substation, with a capacity of 250 megavolt-amperes, was ceremonially handed over to BEE. Plans for integrating battery storage systems are underway, aiming to develop Schafhöfen into a hybrid energy hub.
The project highlights effective collaboration among stakeholders, including BEE, Bayernwerk Netz, and local authorities, as a model for advancing energy infrastructure efficiently.
