BNP Paribas Fortis Reports First Half 2026 Results

BNP Paribas Fortis announced a net profit of EUR 1.5 billion for the first half of 2026. This achievement was bolstered by income growth and a EUR 0.6 billion gain from the sale of its stake in AG Insurance. However, the financial outcome was negatively affected by falling used-car prices at Arval, attributed to geopolitical tensions impacting oil prices.

In Belgium, geopolitical instability disrupted energy prices and trade, leading to an inflation forecast increase to 2.8% and slowing growth to 0.1% in Q3 2026. Despite economic challenges, Belgium demonstrated resilience with no significant rise in insolvencies.

Revenue increased by 4% overall, driven by strong performance across various business lines, but it was offset by the impact on Arval. The bank's Belgian operations recorded increased net profits, supported by higher margins and commission revenues, and strategic investments enabled operational efficiency.
