Calisen Launches €100 Million Smart Metering Initiative in Germany

Calisen Group, the UK's largest smart meter provider, has announced the launch of its first international venture in Germany. In partnership with Octopus Group's Energy Metering Germany (EMG), the initiative involves a €100 million investment to install 250,000 smart meters. The rollout will be free for consumers, marking a significant step in Germany's energy transition.

Claus Fest, previously with EnBW, joins as Managing Director to oversee the new partnership. The agreement includes a pioneering Meter Services Agreement (MSA) with EMG, aiming to facilitate Germany's renewable integration and digital energy transformation.

The partnership follows a successful pilot scheme and sets a new standard for collaboration between Meter Point Operators and Meter Asset Providers. Calisen CEO Catherine O'Kelly emphasized the benefits for consumers, including potential energy cost reductions and increased access to low carbon technology.
