Cambrex and Partners Honored for Advancements in Sustainable Pharma Practices
Cambrex, alongside its subsidiary Snapdragon Chemistry and collaborator NewAmsterdam Pharma, has been recognized for innovation in sustainable pharmaceutical manufacturing. They were awarded the American Chemical Society's 2026 Green Chemistry Challenge Award for their sustainable organocatalytic process in the synthesis of obicetrapib, a late-stage dyslipidemia therapy. This process notably boosted efficiency, cut process mass intensity by 80%, and reduced cycle time and costs significantly.
Further highlighting its commitment to sustainability, Cambrex's Milan facility secured an EcoVadis Gold rating for its environmental, social, and ethical efforts. The company aims for a 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.
Also noteworthy, Q1 Scientific, another Cambrex affiliate, entered into a Corporate Power Purchase Agreement to source renewable energy, covering 50% of its electricity needs at the Waterford site, underlining Cambrex's leadership in responsible industry practices.
