Carbios and Consortium Validate Industrial-Scale Recycling of Polyester T-Shirts

Carbios, in collaboration with the Fiber-to-Fiber Consortium, has successfully validated the industrial-scale production of recycled polyester T-shirts using complex textile and plastic waste. This was achieved through European manufacturing lines alongside partners Patagonia, PUMA, and Salomon.

The project highlights Carbios' advanced biorecycling technology, capable of converting waste streams into high-quality textile products. The recycled polyester T-shirts match the performance of virgin polyester, showcasing the viability of enzymatic recycling at an industrial scale.

The consortium's efforts, including European partners across the textile value chain, demonstrate a scalable approach to circular textile manufacturing. This initiative underscores the potential for converting challenging waste materials into high-performance textiles without quality compromise.
