Carrefour to Issue 58 Million New Shares Following Atacadão Transaction
Carrefour has announced the issuance of 58,345,601 new shares, part of its acquisition strategy involving its Brazilian subsidiary, Atacadão. This move follows the contribution of 581,122,186 Atacadão shares from Carrefour Nederland, aimed at delisting Atacadão from the São Paulo Stock Exchange.
The transaction was favored by 84.61% of Atacadão's minority shareholders, who chose to receive Carrefour shares. The contribution agreement, approved by Carrefour’s board, includes a capital increase, valuing the contributed Atacadão shares at approximately 767 million euros.
Upon completion, expected by late May 2025, the new shares will comprise about 7.92% of Carrefour's capital, aligning with its strategic goals in Brazil. Carrefour continues to enhance its operations, consolidating Atacadão's market leadership in Brazilian food retail.
