Carrefour to Sell Romanian Operations to Paval Holding
Carrefour has announced its plans to sell its Romanian operations to Paval Holding, the investment vehicle of the Paval family, known for their ownership of Dedeman. This move is part of a strategic review initiated by Carrefour in early 2025. The sale is based on an enterprise value of 823 million euros and involves 478 stores across various formats. These stores generated gross sales of 3.2 billion euros in 2024 and 2025, accounting for 3.5% of Carrefour's group sales.
The transaction, which awaits customary regulatory approvals, is anticipated to complete in the second half of 2026. Alexandre Bompard, CEO of Carrefour, expressed confidence in the agreement with Paval Holding, highlighting it as an opportunity for continued success. This sale follows Carrefour's recent strategic moves, including changes in Brazil and Italy, as it refocuses on three primary countries.
