Cerrado Gold Granted Approval for EIA Revisions at Lagoa Salgada Project
Cerrado Gold Inc.'s Portuguese subsidiary, Redcorp, has received consent from the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) to apply Article 16 procedures, allowing revisions to their Environmental Impact Application for the Lagoa Salgada project. This step permits modifications without necessitating a full resubmission, thereby streamlining the path to potential approval.
The revisions, part of an Optimized Feasibility Study (OFS), include eliminating cyanide in processing, enhanced water resource protection, and introducing real-time environmental monitoring. Such measures align with APA feedback and aim to bolster environmental standards.
With support from stakeholders like EDM, a Portuguese state-owned entity, Cerrado views this as a constructive step for environmental compliance. The final EIA decision is anticipated by Q1 2026, assuming revised submissions are accepted.
