Baoting Leads the Way in Local Climate Action for COP30

As the world gears up for COP30, Baoting Li and Miao autonomous county in Hainan emerges as a model for local climate initiatives. A recent conference in Baoting gathered over 100 representatives from global organizations, governments, and companies to discuss translating climate pledges into practice.

The conference emphasized Baoting's role in initiatives like the Hainan Free Trade Port, a UN project on green and digital innovation, and a WHO-led project on climate health benefits. A plan to reduce Baoting's carbon footprint was also proposed.

Xie Zhenhua, China's former climate envoy, praised Baoting's cooperation with European partners as a localized solution to global carbon reduction efforts. Laurence Tubiana, from the European Climate Foundation, highlighted Baoting as an inspirational example for other island economies.

With COP30 on the horizon, Baoting presents a "construction blueprint" model for globally replicable climate actions.
