China's Rare Operatic Traditions Spotlighted at National Showcase

The second National Showcase of Outstanding Works from China's rare operatic genres was recently held in Boxing County, Binzhou City, Shandong Province. This event highlighted the country's endangered theatrical forms, celebrated for their regional identities and artistic value. The showcase was co-organized by the China Theatre Association and Shandong Federation of Literary and Art Circles, among others, emphasizing the cultural importance and preservation efforts of these unique art forms.

Over 100 troupes participated in the event, featuring 36 exceptional works encompassing genres like Yong Opera, Qian Opera, Qi Opera, and Dunqiang. These performances underscore significant progress in safeguarding and revitalizing rare operatic traditions. As part of the intangible cultural heritage, these genres play a crucial role in maintaining local dialects and customs while promoting the development of traditional Chinese culture.
