Chow Tai Fook Unveils "Chinese Couture" High Jewellery in Shanghai
Chow Tai Fook, a prominent global Chinese jewellery house, has launched its "Chinese Couture" High Jewellery collection in Shanghai. The exhibition explores the history of Chinese attire, embracing traditional elements such as silk thread, cords, and ribbons. Through exquisite craftsmanship, these elements are transformed into a new collection of high jewellery, which includes archival gold masterpieces and rare gemstones.
Nicholas Lieou, the collection's Creative Director, offers a multicultural perspective, having lived in Hong Kong, the UK, and the US. His designs draw inspiration from motifs like Fei Cui jade, button knots, and cloud collars, bringing together tradition and modernity. The collection's unique pieces, like the 22K gold Ribbon and diamond-encrusted Cord, highlight the elegance of Chinese textile culture.
The exhibition, enhanced by the presence of notable figures like Sonia Cheng and Kent Wong, was set against Shanghai's iconic Huangpu River. It marked a significant moment for Chinese jewellery, blending heritage and contemporary art on the global stage.
