Claros Technologies Achieves Significant PFAS Destruction in Pilot Study
Claros Technologies has announced a successful demonstration of its ClarosTechUV™ system, achieving a ≥99.99% destruction rate of PFOS and PFOA in groundwater from the MPCA Lake Elmo site in Minnesota. This pilot study underscores the capability of their system in handling complex remediation challenges with real-world conditions.
The study was part of an integrated treatment approach, focusing on low-transparency water with high turbidity. The ClarosTechUV™ system treated concentrate from approximately 600,000 gallons of groundwater within four hours, highlighting its application for large-scale remediation.
Analytical validation using modified EPA 1633 methods confirmed the mineralization of PFAS, showing an 88% reduction in total organic fluorine. Energy and cost efficiency were notable, with low energy consumption and operating expenses.
This successful pilot supports the scalability of ClarosTechUV™, making it a viable solution for widespread PFAS destruction.
