Commerzbank Initiates €1.2bn Share Buyback Program
Commerzbank has announced the start of a significant share buyback, valued up to €1.2 billion. The process begins on September 4, 2026, and is projected to conclude by February 10, 2027. This initiative is a part of Commerzbank's planned €3.2 billion capital return for the 2026 financial year.
The European Central Bank and German Finance Agency have given their approval for this program. Shares acquired will be canceled at a later date, continuing the bank's policy of capital return and management's commitment to shareholder value.
CEO Bettina Orlopp emphasizes the bank's dedication to sustaining capital generation and fulfilling commitments. A combination of buybacks and dividend payments constitutes the planned return. Commerzbank aims to return 100% of net results to shareholders, aiming for a capital return of €3.2 billion in 2026.
