Crédit Agricole increases its stake in Banco BPM to 29.3%
Crédit Agricole SA recently increased its stake in Banco BPM, reaching 29.3% of the share capital. This increase, exceeding the 25% threshold, was achieved through share purchases on the market and the use of a derivative instrument.
Having long been invested in Italy, Crédit Agricole is reaffirming its strategy of supporting the local economy and its role as a trusted partner for Banco BPM. This increased stake is therefore part of a long-term investment strategy, strengthening collaborations in the areas of consumer credit, non-life insurance, personal protection, and mortgage insurance.
The financial impact of this transaction translates into an estimated decrease of 35 basis points on Crédit Agricole's CET1 ratio for the second quarter of 2026.
