Crédit Agricole Increases Stake in Banco BPM to 29.3%
Crédit Agricole S.A. has informed the Italian Authority and Banco BPM SpA that it has surpassed the 25% ownership threshold, now holding 29.3% of Banco BPM's share capital. This increase comes from market share purchases and a derivative instrument.
Crédit Agricole has a significant presence in the Italian market and is dedicated to supporting the local economy. The stake increase aligns with its strategy as a long-term investor and partner in Banco BPM's growth. This move strengthens their industrial partnerships in consumer finance, non-life, personal, and creditor protection insurance.
The additional stake will impact Crédit Agricole's CET 1 ratio by approximately -35 basis points at the end of Q2 2026.
