Sensirion Unveils Advanced CO₂ Sensor with Enhanced Stability

Sensirion AG has announced the release of the SCD53, a new CO₂ sensor that promises superior long-term stability and accuracy. The sensor is slated for launch in late 2026. This advancement aims to overcome current challenges in gas sensing technology, particularly the need for regular recalibration or fresh air exposure. The SCD53 offers robust performance for environments unable to provide these conditions.

Combining photoacoustic NDIR sensing with laser technology, the SCD53 maintains stability without standard recalibration, offering reliable operation across varying environmental conditions. Its small size and reflow solderable LGA package facilitate easy integration into existing systems.

The SCD53 is expected to be particularly beneficial for applications in spaces with demand-controlled ventilation, mechanically ventilated buildings, and smart agriculture, where maintaining consistent CO₂ measurement is crucial.
