DEBRA Research Supports Topadur in Developing Therapies for Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa

DEBRA Research GmbH has announced an investment in Topadur Pharma AG to advance therapies for dystrophic Epidermolysis bullosa (DEB). This severe genetic disorder results in extremely fragile skin, prone to chronic wounds and complications. The collaboration aims to explore small-molecule therapeutics targeting key disease processes.

Topadur's preclinical program will focus on the clinical-stage compound TOP-N53 and other small molecules from its DualTOP® platform. These compounds address wound healing and fibrosis, major challenges in DEB. Studies will be conducted with the University of Freiburg and the EB Research Institute in Austria.

Prof. Hubert Trübel of DEBRA Research emphasized the support for developing locally acting therapies that target multiple disease aspects. Topadur's CEO, Dr. Matthias Schäfer, recognized DEBRA’s endorsement of their approach to addressing unmet medical needs.
