Avolta Secures Historic Concession at Shanghai Pudong Airport
Avolta AG has been awarded a significant concession at Shanghai Pudong International Airport. This marks a major milestone for international duty-free operators in mainland China. Avolta will manage over 8,000m² of retail space across 43 stores in Terminal 1 and the S1 Satellite Hall, catering to an anticipated 18.7 million international passengers in 2026.
Shanghai Pudong becomes Avolta's first APAC site where all business operations—duty-free, convenience, and food & beverage—will be unified. This move aligns with Avolta's strategy for geographical diversification and growth in the Asia-Pacific region.
Freda Cheung, CEO Asia Pacific, emphasized the integration of local insights into Avolta's offerings. CEO Xavier Rossinyol highlighted this as a strategic breakthrough, reinforcing Avolta's Destination 2027 ambition.
