EDEN Models Boost Antibiotic and Vaccine Design via Claude Science

Basecamp Research has integrated its EDEN models for antibiotic and vaccine design into Claude Science, Anthropic's AI platform for life sciences research. This development allows scientists to rapidly prioritize vaccine targets and design antibiotics. The integration promises to streamline drug discovery processes, reducing the time required from years to minutes.

Leveraging Claude's reasoning with EDEN, researchers can swiftly shortlist high-performing therapeutic candidates. This capability extends across multiple platforms like Claude.ai, Claude Desktop, and Claude Mobile. The urgency for new antibiotics is underscored by the rise in drug-resistant infections causing approximately 5 million deaths annually.

EDEN's models demonstrate a 97% success rate against WHO priority pathogens, offering hope amid the dwindling pipeline of new antibiotics. In collaboration with the University of Pennsylvania, Basecamp has showcased the promising efficacy of the EDEN models. One notable candidate, EDEN-7, showed commendable results in combatting multidrug-resistant infections in mice.

The vaccine model effectively identifies proteins eliciting a protective immune response, a crucial feature in combating emerging pathogens quickly. Basecamp Research, which trains EDEN on the expansive BaseData, continues to pioneer AI-driven solutions in drug discovery, propelling forward new standards in data provenance and benefit-sharing.
