Ekinops is upgrading the THOR network for enhanced connectivity in Colorado
Ekinops, a provider of optical transport solutions, announces a significant upgrade to the THOR project in Northwest Colorado. This Northwest Colorado Council of Governments (NWCCOG) initiative enhances the "Middle Mile" fiber network that serves isolated communities along I-70.
The THOR project connects communities, schools, hospitals, and emergency services to high-capacity internet services. Thanks to ROADM and FlexRate™ optical technologies, the network offers increased resilience and flexibility, essential in regions prone to natural hazards.
This shared network enables cost-effective connectivity for multiple public and private stakeholders, guaranteeing affordable broadband access. John Stavney of NWCCOG and Kevin Antill of Ekinops emphasize the importance of robust infrastructure for mountain communities.
