Electric Metals Initiates PEA for North Star Manganese Project
Electric Metals (USA) Limited has announced the commencement of a Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) for the North Star Manganese Project's downstream processing facilities. The focus is on High-Purity Manganese Sulfate Monohydrate (HPMSM) and Electrolytic Manganese Metal (EMM) processing, crucial for U.S. manganese supply self-sufficiency. The engineering study is led by Hargrove Engineers & Constructors, leveraging expertise from their chemical sector dominance.
The assessment targets domestic reliance reduction on foreign manganese supply chains, primarily dominated by China. With no U.S. domestic production, the project's ambition aligns with national goals to bolster industrial resilience and advanced manufacturing capabilities in the U.S.
The study evaluates logistics from the Emily Manganese Deposit in Minnesota to a Gulf Coast processing site. It explores production capacities of 100,000 tonnes annually for HPMSM and 10,000 for EMM, with potential expansions.'
