Encavis Launches AI-Optimized Battery Storage in Germany
Encavis AG, a Hamburg-based operator of wind and solar parks, has partnered with Entrix to optimize its first 24 MWh battery storage system in Hettstedt, Saxony-Anhalt using AI technology. The system, with a 12 MW output, aims to enhance flexibility and optimize economic performance across various electricity markets, including balancing energy, day-ahead, and intraday markets.
Entrix's AI-driven strategy integrates real-time market data, storage status, and technical framework to maximize returns. Entrix CEO Steffen Schülzchen emphasizes that storage is a crucial element of the generation strategy. The project's technological backbone is supported by TokWise, specializing in AI-based portfolio management.
The mtu EnergyPack QG storage system, supplied by Rolls-Royce, is set to commence commercial operations in Q2 2025. Encavis views this step as integral to its European market strategy, marking a significant milestone in integrating battery technology.
