ENGIE Commissions Largest Solar Park, Assú Sol, in Brazil
ENGIE has announced the full commissioning of its largest solar park worldwide, the Assú Sol photovoltaic complex in Brazil. Located in the State of Rio Grande do Norte, Assú Sol consists of 16 plants with a combined capacity of 753 MW. This significant project received approval from Brazilian authorities on February 13, 2026, after an investment of BRL 3.3 billion.
The park spans 2,344 hectares and meets the annual energy needs of a city with 850,000 residents. Construction took 30 months, creating over 4,500 jobs and introducing advanced technologies such as drone-based aerial mapping and automatic pile-driving.
Beyond energy production, ENGIE has engaged in local socio-economic development, building a school and health center. The park underscores ENGIE's commitment to renewable energy, with a renewable capacity of 15.7 GW in Brazil.
