ENGIE Launches First Hybrid Solar & Storage Project in India
ENGIE has successfully secured its first hybrid renewable energy project in India. The venture combines a 200 MW solar photovoltaic system with a 100 MW / 600 MWh battery energy storage system. This project, awarded under the Solar Energy Corporation of India's national tender, will facilitate the storage and supply of renewable energy for up to six hours.
This development aligns with India’s ambition for round-the-clock renewable power. With nearly 2 GW of renewable capacity already operational or under construction, ENGIE solidifies its position in the country’s renewable energy market. The hybrid project represents a significant step in enhancing grid resilience and delivering continuous clean power.
This project exemplifies ENGIE's global commitment to low-carbon solutions. Following their first standalone battery project in November, ENGIE aims to further contribute to India’s energy transition. The project will proceed to development phases, targeting commissioning by 2028.
