ENGIE Secures Financing for Offshore Wind Farm in Poland
ENGIE, through its joint venture Ocean Winds with EDP Renewables, has announced the financial close for its first offshore wind farm, BC-Wind, in the Baltic Sea near Poland. Located 23 kilometers off the Polish coast, this project will feature 26 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 14 MW, extendable to 15 MW, culminating in a total capacity of 390 MW. The wind farm is expected to provide renewable energy for nearly 500,000 Polish households upon completion in 2028.
The project involves approximately €2 billion in investment, partly financed by the European Investment Bank and other major financial institutions, underscoring confidence in the venture's long-term stability. The initiative will engage local suppliers within Poland, emphasizing the project's commitment to bolstering the local economy.
This development enhances ENGIE's presence in Poland's renewable energy sector, where it already operates 360 MW of capacity, and consolidates the company's role in global offshore wind markets.
