Epanko Engineering Drives 20% Boost in Production Capacity
EcoGraf Limited has announced a potential 20% increase in Stage 1 production capacity for the Epanko Graphite Project, reaching 87,600 tonnes per annum. This boost stems from a Value Engineering Review aiming at process plant efficiencies and addresses customer demand while minimizing unit operating costs. The production increase is expected without significant modifications to the plant's design, requiring an estimated US$12 million in additional capital expenditure.
The review suggests that 44% of major equipment will need adaptations, mostly considered modular and of low complexity. The European Investment Bank supports this expansion through a grant of up to €2 million for further technical and market studies. With improved production, operating costs are projected to drop by 5.8% over the next decade, enhancing project feasibility.
This initiative aligns with EcoGraf's strategy to bolster its battery anode materials business across Europe, Asia, and the U.S., emphasizing the significance of their HFfree® purification technology to enhance downstream battery materials ventures.
